I don't have any problems with Microsoft. I don't know why they have such a negative reputation. Have you tried to use Open Office for example? I used it once and couldn't wait to go home and use Microsoft Office again.

You've obviously disregarded Microsoft's crowning innovation...spin. It is how, more than any other trait, Microsoft has come to dominate AND maintain their hegemony on the technology industry. Their ability to spin such credits of their achievements and visions with ernest aplomb is truly the envied innovation of all their competitors and admirers.

Bob uses a tablet PC to have his WebTV transfer movies to his friends' Zunes, all in a matter of SmartWatch seconds. Aah....The Road Ahead!

The problem with Microsoft is that they have been telling us for years that they are innovator when they really are integrator, If I buy a house I can't assume that I am the maker of it, even if I make some adjustments the real maker is the one that spent the time thinking about how to achieve it.

I don't think acquisitions automatically disqualify a company from being an innovator. What Microsoft does not seem to be very good at (since Windows95 anyway) is disrupting existing markets with new, superior (or perceived as such) technology solutions. They also have not to my knowledge ever successfully created a new product category -- though they may take a little credit for netbooks perhaps, since they touted UMPC before netbooks became popular (if they really are popular, personally I think they are a fad and not a trend - smartphone+dockable screen makes more sense to me, especially one of those roll-up displays ... see, there's an opening for Microsoft right there!)

I've had the 8GB version for a week or so and I must say very impressed with both the audio and video quality (obviously depends on the source). The only issue I have is that the menu's/controls are rather primitive, some are still in Chinese after language change and the Calendar (in chinese aswell) is pretty useless. It works with both your finger and a stylus, although stylus shaped fingers are best.

OMG. I can't wait to hear from the first loyal Palm user that says his ancient Palm can do this better than the iPhone as they're always ready to boast about. That is a really neat application for musicians. Who the heck would expect to turn their handset into a wind instrument? I wonder if this can be turned into other sorts of wind instruments, like say, a clarinet or a bagpipe. Hoho. I'm totally impressed.

Sometimes I really don't understand Apple advertising strategy , it seems too soft for me the way Apple goes against Microsoft and while the Get a Mac campaign is working there is much more for Apple to advertise and take a bigger market....

I am not in favor of putting your competitor down. I have always advocated pointing out the best in your own equipment features and its decisive and compelling benefits. By demonstrating OS X's ability to work in windows based networks would by far show its ease, grace, strength and power.

I'm sure it has little to do with ppc development. Apple has shown that ppc is being deprecated for snow leopard. Leopard will be the last ppc compatible os x.

I'll bet PA semi and papermaster will be workign on an ARM-compatible mobile chip. Microsoft did it with the Xscale. ARM processors now run mac os x (cocoa touch). If anything the apple tv will switch to ARM.

unlike the Sonos wireless controller or the desktop controller software, the iPhone controller for Sonos doesn't appear to support Windows MediaCenter. Under the Music Library it shows the Music Service Trials but not connections to MediaCenter servers.

Can anyone confirm this working, or is it not part of the iPhone controller to work with work with Windows MediaCenter?
